In collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Orchestra became the promoter and protagonist of the soundtrack for the 2013 Year of Italian Culture in the U.S., with “Allegretto Made in Italy” written for the occasion by Oscar winner Nicola Piovani.
The composition was premiered at the inaugural ceremony on December 12, 2012 in Washington DC. in the presence of the highest authorities̀ and eminent personalities̀ of Italian and U.S. culture. The initiative is associated with the production of a video that combines maestro Piovani’s music with an evocative sequence of Italian landscapes “animated” by the orchestral musicians.
